Before anything else, I feel the need to announce, IT WORKED!

For a brief moment, at least.

Let's talk about what happened.

This is the final post on my Maker Faire 2016 project. If you want to start back at the beginning, click here.

The largest issue we ran into was unexpected hardware issues with the RC cars themselves. We spent much of the event trying to solve them, but were unable to completely resolve the issues. Turns out, the microservos we used on the RC cars draw a LOT of current and as a result, the hardware began to suffer problems. Namely, not being able to drive in a straight line.

We were able to witness some seriously magical things, though. The car actually drove slower when it went through the projected mud puddle as it was programmed to! And it sped up accordingly as it crossed the boost icons on the field! That was my favorite part to see in action.

It was a great project in theory, but not enough attention or time was given to making the entire project a success. So, as a proof of concept, it absolutely works. Here's an info-graphic of everything that was in play:

Thanks to Neil and everyone who was a part of this project and to those who visited our booth. It was really cool to see all of the awesome projects going on this year at Maker Faire. Since I started in 2014, Maker Faire Orlando has always been something that I look forward to and I can't wait to come back with new ideas and projects in the coming years. Thanks for following along this journey, and stay tuned for more cool content.

Oh! And we won the Maker of Merit blue ribbon award!
